(The title is a direct quote from fellow foster mom Jennifer. Yes, it was sarcasm.)
Life stuff
What's better than two tiny kittens? Seven tiny kittens!
(Note: this does not actually scale.)
Here are the other five. They all still need names.
Yes, after a sleep-deprived weekend with the previously mentioned duo (code names: Stardew and Moonshine), I picked up another five who are just a couple days younger. Everyone is now about two weeks old, so feedings have moved from every two hours to every three hours, which is a huge improvement.
Would I still kill someone to get an uninterrupted night's sleep? On the advice of my lawyer, I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it might incriminate me.
Writing stuff
I have a new book coming out on the 16th! Woohoo!
The Dragon's Librarian and Other Stories is a collection of short stories that I've written for my Patreon supporters over the last few years. What kind of stories, you ask?
- A Treasure of Stars (retired space pirates save the day!)
- Watching Blue Skies with the Parcheesi Gang (be careful of the Fae)
- Gestures (a Cupid murder mystery)
- The Dragon's Librarian (it's not wise to steal anything from a dragon)
- Butterflies (sometimes bad luck is just a clue there's a problem)
- Ten Clues Your Rice Cooker is Haunted by Your Great-Grandmother's Ghost
- Mayday (paranormal plants!)
- Guerrilla Gardening with the Ancient Oak Protection Society (fighting back against the HOA)
- Seeking Pemberley (Perhaps Pride & Prejudice might save your life)
- Game of Crones: an Advice Column for Spellcasters
- Preparing for Winter with Special Guest Baba Yaga
- Aunt Hazel’s Notes to the Bride on the Occasion of the First Hydran-Human Wedding
- Working the Night Shift at Lucky Eddie's 24-Hour Laundromat (Knitting and aliens!)
- and a whole bunch more!

Oh, those little kittens are quite active squirmers, aren't they!!!! Three hours...oh, boy. I will be back to buy your book on the 16th! Can't wait. I will buy from your bookfunnel store! That's new, isn't it???
The BookFunnel link is just a universal link to the other retailers. (I'm still fighting against running my own store.) I was using Books2Read for my universal links, but they haven't been keeping the Kobo links for the last year, so I've given up on them.
Oh, I didn't know you went through d2d for kobo. That's why I never see you in the promos! You know if you go direct to kobo, they have promotions you can sign up for--including for audio. That probably makes more sense than doing your own store. Your own store is more work and there's a cost to run it. If I hadn't started my store years ago, I couldn't afford the fees that places are charging for a store setup now. I'd have to sell a lot more books to maintain a store. I didn't quite understand the bookfunnel link--I didn't see a buy link, etc. Well, I own a kobo and that's where I buy all my books, so I'll just find your latest on Kobo like I usually do! Looking forward to it.
No, I go direct to Kobo. Books2Read is just a universal book link so I can have one link to multiple stores. The BookFunnel link is the same thing, but it doesn't keep forgetting the link to the Kobo version of the book.
Got it! I generally shop at author stores (rare, but do for a few authors) or Kobo. Once in a while I'll buy direct from the publisher, but that's usually print or audio as a gift.
