I saw a book cover with the silhouette of a woman's profile formed from a tree. That's beyond my skill level, but I thought I might be able to create something similar.
This is from a picture of Kahlua, an older foster cat who stayed with me for a few months early in the year. He was a favorite on the kitten cam because there's something relaxing about watching a cat sleep the entire day.
I kinda like how it turned out.
Foster Kitten Updates
Everybody is fine, though I'm starting to have doubts that Spanner and Bailey Potato will be big enough for surgery next week. They seem healthy and active, but they both need to gain fifty grams. That should be no problem, and yet...
Other Stuff
I worked on the knitted dragon again today, and I may be almost done with that last stupid wing panel. But I've thought that before, so who knows?

Your knitting sounds like my work on the audio for Ghost Town. I think I'm getting close to done and then...an entire segment is much louder than the other half of the chapter and...I can't fix it with digital fixes and have to re-record. It's been worse than hiking up a mountain! This was supposed to be FUN! It's turned into quite the exercise. Hello to all the kittens!!!!
Some of the Shift Happens chapters were recorded three times. It took me soooo long to figure out what I was doing.
Yeah, that's me. I've learned a lot, but I'm sure if I did another book, I'd still have a lot of issues. That's the main reason I hired Lori for Null Witch. I don't want to deal with all the voices AND the tech issues. I'm not good at the male voices. I good with pacing, but not so good at sounding the same from day to day. Luckily I don't have to decide on anything today. And I can change my mind, too! I haven't listened to Shift Happens, but I loved the ebook. And I just recommended the audio to a couple of friends of mine (kobo readers, both of them, I think).
I think I've sold around three copies of the audiobook (ha!), so it definitely wasn't a good financial ROI. But I learned a ton, including some things about writing in general, so I'm glad I did it. And one of the three people told me I did a great job, so I'm happy with it! :)
I've heard it's going to be an uphill battle, sales wise. I narrated Witch Way earlier this year. It wasn't as long as Ghost Town and didn't have tons of voicing for the length. I have sold one copy (on google play). Witch Way is in ebook everywhere, but I only uploaded the audio to Kobo and Google Play. Baby steps? Fear? I don't know.
My problem is that my book-selling strategy is to put the first in series free and then do a tiny bit of promotion. That doesn't really work for one audiobook...
You know kobo has a monthly audiobook promo. I get an email. I did Witch Way once, and it turns out it's the month they are having trouble reporting. I had to ASK for the results two months after the promo. Hmph. But it is probably the only free promo out there. I'll email you the invite for November in case you aren't on it. It may be too late for the November one, but it will give you an idea of what to expect. I thought I'd have Ghost Town done in time for November. Nope. Maybe January...
I've kind of messed with the first book free thing. I don't think it works that well anymore. Witch Way is free and is the lead-in to Null Witch. I see plenty of downloads, but not a lot of additional reviews and not much follow through that is noticeable. Promo is worse odds than crap shoots.
