I mean... I think it looks better with a drop shadow. I think my main problem is that the light is coming from different directions in all three images. (Scratch that — my main problem is I'm not a visual artist. But whatever.)

Currently, the drop shadow version is the top contender. I'm using this cover for the linked short stories I send out to my Patreon patrons — I only have five stories with that character so far, so I may have another 6-12 months before I have enough stories in that universe to collect as a book. Plenty of time to fix it!
